“One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of feeling at home abroad.”

A dream for someone, reality for others

What is it like to emigrate? And what is it like to vegetate? Or to live a full life in a country that isn’t your own?

If you’re looking for stories about women who drink wine and have taken the leap to live abroad — this is one of them.
What’s the story?

Bifurcation Point

After twenty years in one of the most prestigious financial institutions in Bulgaria — in a field that, at first, didn’t interest me, but where I poured in a lot of effort — I met special people who sparked my curiosity. I achieved a lot. But in the end, I felt disappointed and lost.

When I arrived here, I had no clear idea of what was going to happen. I applied for several government positions in areas where I had expertise — and got none of them.
Ironically, those rejections set me on the most unusual path of my life.

Once you’re willing to accept that things won’t go as expected, you’re free to do anything.
That was the first time I truly asked myself: What do I want to pursue?

It was less of a leap and more of a gradual drift — into my dreams.

A gradual sinking into my dreams

Even though my past experiences gave me courage — and I feel ultimately confident in my choice — it’s still scary to strike out on your own. There’s no one to tell you if you’re doing it right.

But starting an all-Bulgarian wine import company is my brainchild. I believe in the mission with my whole heart. If I can’t sell these wines, I told myself, then it’s my fault — because they’re great.

And what is the feeling of selling the first few cases? I can’t even put it into words.

There are people who like what I do and believe in it. It was incredible.
